It's that time of year again for Art Travel Guide's annual preview of the December art extravaganza in Miami. 2008 sees the number of fairs coming back down to a mere 12 after last year's overwhelming 20+. Don't let this contraction deceive you – there will still be more openings, parties, dinners and general socializing than any mortal could possibly attend in the course of less than a week.

And then there's the art . . . December in Miami remains the best place in the world to see the largest gathering of artworks from all corners of the planet.
